I love Yusuf/Cat Steven’s song Moonshadow. 🎵 It makes me think about the losses I’ve had because of Parkinson’s.
What have you lost to Parkinson’s? I’ve lost smell, taste, fast talking and long walking. But sometimes the loss isn’t as bad as other days. Just like the moon which fills the sky one night and is only a crescent another night.
An example? You want an example? Let’s see…hmmm…AH. I’ve got it.
About a month ago I was walking past our lilac bush and was rewarded with the wonderful smell of lilacs.
Last week a friend was giving me a ride home and with a bit of panic in their voice they said, “As soon as we get to your house please quickly unlock the door.”
” Is everything okay?” I asked.
“I’ve got to go to the bathroom. ” She said. “And I don’t think I can make it “
I hurriedly unlocked the door, but it was already too late. As soon as she got out of the car it was, KABOOM!!
Guess who got to clean up the KABOOM? YEP, I DID.
On the other hand, guess who couldn’t smell a thing? Yep, that would be me.
Sing with me,
“Oh, I’m being followed by a moon shadow, moon shadow Moon shadow,
Leaping and hopping on a moon shadow. Moon shadow, moon shadow.
And if I ever loose my nose, all the oders just plain goes,
Oh if I ever lose my nose, well iiiiif, I won’t have to smell your stink
